Opening Night at the Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival

Here are a couple of pics from last night's opener at the Camelot Theatre in Palm Springs.

Barbara Rush, star of BIGGER THAN LIFE was the opening night special guest along with the ageless Marsha Hunt, Sherry Jackson and others.

Here is a shot of Barbara and Marsha

Thanks so much for posting the photos from your event. I LOVE the elegant and thoughtful Marsha Hunt, especially since I recently devoured her book, "The Way We Wore". That lovely book, of course has almost nothing to do with film noir, but she revealed herself as a truly beautiful person who wanted to appreciate the often unsung artistry she saw on a daily basis working in the studio system.

Barbara Rush was an actress who never seemed to get her due. It's wonderful to see her looking so fit and her work in "Bigger Than Life" was exceptional (despite Nicholas Ray's reported antipathy toward here character). I would like to have seen the story re-told from her point of view. If anyone ever saw Ms. Rush on stage (I was lucky enough to see her perform about 15 years ago in "Steel Magnolias"--before the movie), her talent would be even clearer. A truly good actress, who got more out of material than most others.

I'm also delighted to see that producer William Asher was able to attend. I'm hoping that all the best will come out of all your hard work for this event, Alan.

Marsha is one of the most genuinely delightful people on Earth; it has been a joy to be her friend. The festival was an outstanding success and we all had a blast. Moira- you have to be there next year to cover it for TCM!

Cheers, Alan
